How to get started selling on eBay

One question I get a lot is, "How do I get started selling on eBay?"

First thing I tell people is to set up an eBay account and buy around 10 items to learn the process and get a good feel for how eBay works. Not only will you gain knowledge of how it works, but you will also gain feedback too. Which is very important in your success on eBay. Also start small, by selling some of your own things before you invest any money in other products to sell. There is a lot more to eBay than taking pictures and working on your computer. You will need to educate yourself on editing photos, Paypal, shipping and customer service. Take your time and learn the basics before you quit your job!

One thing I highly recommend before you get started selling on eBay is that you receive a feedback score of 10 or more. On eBay your word is the most important part of your business. Your integrity will make or break it. I recommend buying 10 items that you need. Such as shipping boxes, envelopes, bubble wrap, labels, etc. to build up your feedback. As soon as you agree to buy the item, pay immediately through Paypal. That way the seller will leave you positive feedback and it will begin to build your integrity on eBay.

Once you have learned the basics and are comfortable with the process. It's time to experiment with a few different products. Don't be disappointed if you list something that doesn't sell. You can always mark it down and re-list it.

The very best advice I can give you is to just jump in and learn to swim : )
